Google Daydream: The Next Big Move in Virtual Reality and Android

Google’s Clay Bavor, the Vice President of Google’s Virtual Reality division final revealed his vision and objective with respect to Virtual Reality. Google on Wednesday, in its ongoing Google I/O conference announced a new Virtual Reality platform for mobile devices entailing the future of VR.

Daydream the new Virtual reality platform as it will be called shall incorporate the upcoming Android’s operating system for mobile devices built along the lines and principles of virtual reality. Apart from the developments in the software, Google is also working in collaboration with hardware manufacturers and designers to build Daydream-ready VR headsets.

Clay Bavor at the Google I/O conference defined these endeavors as a part of his dream to put a VR headset on everybody’s headset while making every Smartphone equipped with an operating system to make it VR ready right away from its make. It was also revealed that Google has been working on non cardboard VR headsets which will be released later in the year and shall be built so as to enhance the experience with Daydream.

Getting to know Daydream better, we found out that Daydream isn’t exactly a version of Android exclusively built for VR like Android TV and Android Wear however, it is an inclusive and significant part of Android similar to any customary feature of Android. To be more precise Daydream is a like a VR mode in Android to which when you dock your phone, it will launch a VR Home from where the user could navigate through different VR apps such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube or games in VR.

Bavor proudly revealed that a lot of neat things have been introduced which will make Daydream launch big from day one.
