Sony Pictures has recently joined hands with Nokia in order to produce and distribute high quality virtual reality content. This was announced by both companies on Monday. They collaborated for a project and it will include live streaming of 360-degree videos in order to offer fans a virtual front row seat at various Sony Pictures events. Sony Pictures will be using Nokia’s OZO VR camera to produce 360 degree 3 Dimensional videos. Sony will also be adding Nokia’s SDK to their category of Privilege Plus app, which will be made exclusively for Sony-made mobile phones.

According to Sony Pictures Home Ent Digital Sales SVP Pete Wood, “Partnerships is often regarded as the critical if it made with the cutting edge technology companies like Nokia so as to develop the market for Virtual Reality experiences”. Nokia’s OZO camera debuted a little over a year ago. We all know that the company also began taking the pre orders for OZO in December. The company charges a hefty price tag of $60,000 for OZO, but later reduced its price to $45,000. Now also, Nokia is charging $60,000 with additional equipment that would cost some more thousands.

Nokia isn’t the only company that is looking forward to get studios in order to adopt the solution as Nokia OZO to the question of VR capture and production. Lytro who is the light field specialist that recently began to reveal some of the work which is based on their volumetric Virtual Reality video camera and in the same way, Disney is backed by Jaunt that has been touting its own Virtual Reality capturing solution. All the companies are getting a strong competition from Google who is using some advanced cloud-based 3D Virtual Reality system known as JUMP.
