STX ENT. To Launch New Kingdom For VR By Acquiring Surreal .INC

Everyone wants a piece of Virtual Reality and is trying to dip their hands in the Virtual Reality arena. Now, the above mentioned line is proven by STX Entertainment who has now acquired Surreal Inc., who is a producer and distributor of Virtual Reality content. The deal states that the Surreal.Inc will now operate as a division working under STX, which is led by Rick Rey and Andy Vick, the co-founders and now the co-presidents of Immersive Entertainment under the new STX Surreal label. Sophie Watts will be the STX president who will be overseeing this new division and can expect new recruits for creating VR content.

Rey and Vick have already produced more than 70 plus immersive entertainment content in many forms for the enthusiasts which includes live-action 360-degree video and that is why they are regarded as the forefront of VR and still continue this legacy of their company. STX sees a great opportunity to create content by joining hands with the world’s greatest stars and raconteurs with great VR capabilities which is a part of the deal.

Rey was the co-founder and CEO of Surreal before joining STX where he discovered his overall direction for business strategy and key strategic partnerships. He has also served as a General Manager of Entertainment situated at Maker Studios where he was overseeing content operations and programming strategy for the company’s music, film and news.

Vick also co-founded and also served as a chief content officer at Surreal. INC. He is the main reason company’s content development and various talent partnerships happened across many content and distribution platforms.
